Paul Wack, AICP

CPF Board Member (Term of Office – 1/1/05 – 12/31/08)

Mr. Paul Wack, an active member of the planning profession for more almost 40 years including 31 years as an educator, is Professor in City and Regional Planning at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  He also is an adjunct lecturer in the Environmental Studies Program and the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  His current educational interests include sustainable communities, agricultural land preservation, climate change and innovative zoning techniques.

Paul has received the California Chapter Donald G. Hagman Meritorious Award (1985), the UCSB Mortar Board Professor of the Year (1988), and the UCSB Alumni Association Outstanding Teaching Award (2002) for his excellence in teaching. 

He is a principal with the consultant firm of Jacobson & Wack, which specializes in the preparation of development codes, zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, and related plan implementation projects.  His consulting firm co-authored the City of

San Bernardino Unified Development Code, which received the Outstanding Planning Award for Plan Implementation by the APA.  Previously, he served as a planning commissioner and Assistant Planning Director for Santa Barbara County, and Deputy Director for Ventura County. 
Paul is a member of the APA and AICP, as well as the Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP).  He has served in many positions in APA including multi-terms as Central Coast Section Director and immediate past Vice Chair of the International Division of APA.  He has been a member of the CPF Board of Directors since 1992.
